Usually, continental tropical air masses influence the United States during summer time. This type of air mass are classified as hot and dry and if it is unstable, you can’t see clouds because of low humidity. However if there’s huge amount of continental tropical air masses, drought can occur.
Answer:
The continental tropical air masses are defined as the hot and dry type of wind that is generated from the continental areas. The moisture content in this type of wind is absent or very low. They are more effective during the summer season and occurs less frequently during winter.
When this air mass occurs over the region of the United States, it often leads to the occurrence of a very dry and warm type of climate. Due to this warm and dry climate, there is not sufficient moisture to form clouds, as a result of which rainfall is absent. Sometimes, it also leads to the occurrence of drought due to which the land areas are affected adversely.
