Adrenoleuckodystrophy is a genetic disorder which causes damages to the myelin sheath that surround nerve cells in the brain. This disease is caused by mutation in the gene that encodes a peroxisomal membrane transporter which is responsible for transporting long chain fatty acids molecules into the peroxisomes for degradation.
