The ghost dance was a ritual dance introduced by the Paiute tribe, led by Wovoka. This ritual dance was performed for consecutive 5 days, every 6 weeks. They would perform a dance to ask the Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, to give them spiritual renewal from the whites. During the 5th day, they would dance all night until sunrise and bathe in the river.
