Respuesta :

y = mx + b....m is ur slope and b is ur y int
y = 3/4x - 4...but we need it in standard form..

-3/4x + y = -4...multiply by -4
3x - 4y = 16 <==

Since we are given the slope and y-intercept we can write the line in "slope-intercept" form which is:

y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept...

y=3x/4-4 or more neatly

y=(3x-16)/4

Now they want the equation in standard form:  ax+bx=c so we need to have both x and y on one side of the equal sign...

Multiply both sides by 4

4y=3x-16  subtract 3x from both sides

-3x+4y=-16

Now your answer MAY be a,b, and c equal -3,4, and -16 respectively.

HOWEVER, by convention the coefficient of x should be expressed as a positive value, thus you SHOULD divide the above solution by -1 to get:

3x-4y=16 making a,b, and c equal 3, -4, and 16 respectively.

If your answer is -3, 4, and -16, you should point out to whomever assigned it that technically this answer is incorrect... :P
