Chronic kidney disease is when your kidney is not executing its function properly. Kidneys contain filters called nephrons. It is their job to filter the blood of waste products and extra fluid. As a result, your body flushes the waste out as urine. The most common causes of chronic kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. If your blood vessels contain a high concentration of sugar and cholesterol, the nephrons would take the exhaustive work. When you have this kind of disease, you need to follow a restrictive diet meaning you may need to make alterations to your diet. These alterations may consist of eating a low-protein diet, limiting fluids, limiting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes. The result of the diet can make you lose weight. If you lost weight, get enough calories to get back into shape.
