No electrons and protons are different. Protons tend to have a positive charge and they can't be exchanged or transfered to other elements or molecules, it is also located in the atoms nucleus. Electrons tend to have a negative charge and they can transfer to other atoms, the electrons are located in the atoms orbit. Electrons play a more precised role than the proton.
