Pallor is a pale color of the skin. If a patient is dark-skinned, you can assess it in three different ways. First, you can assess his or her Buccal Mucosa. Buccal Mucosa refers to the interior lining of the cheeks and surface of the mouth. Second, you can check the patient’s sclera. Sclera refers to the white exterior coating of the eyeball. Last but not the least, you can also check the patient’s conjunctiva. Conjunctiva refers to the mucous membrane that shelters the front of the eye.
