Minerals that do not possess cleavage are said to possess fracture. It is a separation of a material like a fault or a joint that would divide a mineral or a rock into at least two pieces. It usually form a crevice or a deep fissure in the material. It would provide path for fluid movement like water and other liquids. This is commonly formed because of tension and compression forces applied to the material. This type of failure would form brittle deformation.
