This types of questions where two things operate on different time interval and we need to find out the least time when both of their interval happens in a common time requires concept of lcm ( Least common multiple)

What is LCM and HCF ?

LCM stands for least common multiple is the smallest common multiple of the given number the given numbers should b 2 or more than 2.

HCF stand for Highest common factor for the given numbers and the given numbers should be 2 or more than 2.

In the given question Tap₁ drips after every 68 seconds and Tap₂ drips after every 72 seconds.

So, we will take LCM of 68 and 72.

Finding LCM can be done by prime factorization

68 = 2² x 17 and 72 = 2³ x 3 ² to get the lcm we will choose every non common prime number and we wiil choose the higher power values when the prime number is common.

so the LCM of 68 and 72 = 2³ x 3² x 17 = 1224 or 1224 secs.

so they will start dripping at the same time after every 1224 secs.
