Movement is not a characteristic of life as not all living things move. Sponges are one organism that is living and does not move. Plants, for that matter, are living and do not move. On the other hand, all living creatures have cells, maintain homeostasis, and obtain and use energy.
Criteria for life:
✯All life forms contain deoxyribonucleic acid.
✯All life forms reproduce.
✯All life forms sense changes in the environment and respond to the changes.
✯All life forms have a method of extracting energy from the environment and converting it into energy that sustains their life form.
Considering these facts, we know that having cells, obtaining and using energy, and maintaining homeostasis are indeed characteristics of life.
Thus, the remaining choice is movement.
