The cranial nerve that is affected in the patient who has experienced cerebrovascular accident and has acquired an ability of having difficulty in chewing is the CN – V or also known as the trigeminal nerve. This nerve is the one responsible for the face sensations and motor function in which makes a person bite and chew. If this nerve has been affected, it would likely cause a person to have difficulty in moving sensations in the face and motor functions such as biting and chewing would also be difficult for a person to do. That is why the patient who has difficulty in chewing and has cerebrovascular accident, would likely had a damage in his or her trigeminal nerve.
