Respuesta :
At its resting state, the inside of the neuron is negative, at around -70 millivolts, while the outside of the neuron is positive.
When a neuron is at its resting state, the inside of the neuron is negative outside is positive.
What is neuron?
- It is the structural and functional unit of nervous system.
- It consists of three parts: dendrites, cell body and axon.
- Dendrites are the hair-like extensions that receives impulse from the previous neurons.
- Cell body contains nucleus are various organelles called Nissl's body.
- Axons are the tail-like structure that carry impulse away from the cell body.
What happens at resting state?
- At resting state, the neurons do not carry impulse and has a voltage of approx. -70mV.
- At this stage large number of sodium ions are accumulated at the outer surface.
Hence, the outside of the neuronal membrane is positive and inside is negative.
