Whenever an individual listens to some music composition, three things are bound to happen;
1. Evokes emotion
2. Leads to a response
3. Creates a lasting memory.

When you first listen to a piece of music, you'll either be affected positively or negatively emotionally.
If the music flows to your liking, you are probably going to pay more attention. Else, you'll end up switching off.
2. Secondly, you may decide to continue listen or change to something that will be to your liking.
3. If the music is great, you'll certainly remember it for a while.

A physical response to music is how it affects your body. An emotional response is a mood that song sets and how it makes you feel on the inside. An intellectual response is how you perceive that specific song. For example, is there a certain memory associated or thought that comes to mind when listening to that specific song? These responses are the way we receive music.
