The sugar deoxyribose is found in the type of nucleic acid called DNA while the sugar ribose is found in the nucleic acid called RNA. Generally, the sugar that is found in nucleic acids are classified as pentose sugars which has 5 carbon atoms. DNA is more stable as compared to RNA due to the presence of the deoxyribose. RNA do not have a hydroxyl group that is attached to its pentose ring making it less stable and is more susceptible to hydrolysis. DNA molesules are much harder to break since the attraction between molecules are strong as compared to the RNA molecules.
