hypothyroidism, and coronary artery disease.
Vital signs: BP 124/76 sitting, Pulse 106 bpm at rest, RR 20/min,
Temperature 97.9°F (36.6°C). Additionally, the client reports decreased
appetite related to pain.
Client describes pain as aching, throbbing, and burning to right knee. He
rates his pain as 4 out of 10 on a numeric pain intensity scale at rest, and it
gets as high as 7 out of 10 before administration of the next pain
medication. Client tells the nurse he typically has stiffness to right knee in
the morning, but, after taking his pain medication, he ambulates in home
without using an assistive device.
Daughter tells the nurse he usually takes acetaminophen 500 mg po twice a
day routinely. He does not usually report pain to his knee.
A 76-year-old client is brought to his primary healthcare provider office by his daughter because he has been
having increased pain to his right knee for the last 1 week, more than his usual level of pain.
