Lincoln was an iconic historical figure in the nineteenth century. I think he was important because he was so out there in the public eye, and also because he was in the senate and our very own president. So he was a very important person. So to have a very important person (and our president) to be an author was amazing. Just imagine, back then, people could pick up Mr. Lincolns books and see what he has been up to, what he has planned for us, or even his views on whatever matter.
