After the Columbus’s voyage
many were inspired by that, among them was an Italian John Cabot who was living
in England. He set sails planting the English flag to Atlantic. He reached and settled
a colony in Roanoke Island and due to flag it was recognized as English territory.
John had to return to England to fetch more supplies for his camp where due to
war he was held up for about three years and could not return. The colony in
Roanoke disappeared and reportedly a word CROATOAN was found carved about which
nothing is known until now.
About 20 years later
some Englishmen made a company and sent to Jamestown for the reason that they
will find gold and moneymaking trades for them, this was as they say “the start
of British Empire” there.
