Scientific inquiry refers to the activities through which learners develop knowledge and understanding of scientific idea and gain experience of how scientists study the natural worlds.
The characteristics of scientific inquiry include the following:
1. It is empirical: that is, it relies on observation.
2. It is replicable: that means that it is reproducible anywhere in the world. The same result will be obtained if it is used anywhere.
3. The result obtained from scientific inquiry are provisional, that is, they are open to debate.
4. Objective in nature: it relies on facts and not on belief.
5. Systematic: it relies on carefully planned study.
