Non-impact printer will not use a striking device to produce characters on the paper.
Inkjet printers sprays ink from tiny nozzles through an electrical field that arranges the charged ink particles into characters whereas Laser printer directs laser beam onto a drum and as the paper rolls by the drum, the toner is transferred to the paper thus printing the letters. Since both the above two printers are not using any striking device to produce characters, they comes under Non-impact printers
