It depends on where the farmers lived most of the time but money was a very big problem for all of them. Without money they couldn't buy crops and without selling their crops, they could not make money. Another challenge was the soil. Many immigrant farmers found the soil rocky and hard to plant in. Also the droughts, insects and disease killed many plants. Rather than that, the Native Americans raided many fields. It was a struggle for most farmers in the late 1800s. I hope this helps! :)
