No I do not agree with this. Within a minute approximately 9 crimes are committed. Allowing someone who is guilty to go free will only increase that amount; in addition, if they could get away with it once they will likely try to get away with it again. Meaning the more often a guilty suspect is released the more likely they are to commit the crime again. Although sending an innocent man to jail seems rather grim, if the crimes were to continue to happen they could be cleared of suspicions. Therefore, convicting an innocent man/woman would be better than unknowingly releasing a criminal from jail.
Answer:
Yes, I do, in the years past and present approximately 4.1% of death penalty inmates were and are innocent. Statistics show that out of 100 sentenced to death 4 are innocent and only 2 are likely to be set free. An estimation between 2% and 10% of convicted criminals are also innocent. These statistics show us that too many people are wrongfully convicted which in my eyes is worse than a guilty person to be let free. I do not think that it would be better for the greater good to convict and imprison innocent people rather than let the guilty free because this countries greatest achievement is its view of freedom.
