Within each biome, the environment is organized into levels from complex to simple in the following order: ecosystem, community, species, and population. A biome represents a large area defined by abiotic factors. An ecosystem consists of all organisms in an area and their environment. A community is a group of organisms from different species in an area. A population is a group of organisms of the same species in an area.
