book Other Wes Moore how did segregation continue to affect Wes (the prisoner) even 20 years after it legally ended

Respuesta :

The other Wes Moore, the one in prison, suffered from inadequate opportunity living in a neighborhood troubled by gangs. That social environment was an effect of segregation, which, after being abolished, still became ingrained in society by keeping people in quarters based on race. A quote in the book, “the future didn’t have to be its slave” gives a fair observation that atrocities suffered in the past still have repercussions on how people live in the present.
