The pancreas is an organ situated behind the lower part of the stomach, in front of the spine and shows a significant share in diabetes. The pancreas is the gland which makes insulin, one the core hormones that helps to control blood glucose levels. The cells which produce insulin are beta cells. These cells are circulated in a group of cells in the pancreas called the Islets of Langerhans. Insulin is a hormone that aids to normalize blood sugar levels by helping the transportation of glucose from the blood into neighboring cells.
