In the USSR, Stalin hoped to accomplish several goals with collectivization:
1. He hoped it would help the USSR to become an agricultural superpower: Stalin aimed to modernize agriculture through collectivization, consolidating small farms into large collective farms. This was intended to increase efficiency in food production and make the Soviet Union self-sufficient in terms of food supply.
2. He wanted to feed his factory workers well so they could produce more exportable goods: By improving agricultural productivity, Stalin aimed to ensure a stable food supply for urban populations, including factory workers. Well-fed workers were expected to be more productive, contributing to the industrial growth of the Soviet Union.
These goals were part of Stalin's broader agenda to strengthen the Soviet economy and consolidate his political power within the country. Collectivization, however, led to widespread hardship and famine for many peasants in the Soviet Union.
