The acronym DOWNTIME referring to LEAN methodology stands for Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilized Resources/Talent, Transportation, Inventory excess, Motion waste and Excess processing. DOWNTIME is a way of remembering easily the 8 wastes in a manufacturing. It is one of numerous acronyms for relating the 7 or 8 wastes in LEAN methodology.
