y = 3x + 2. The slope here is 3. A parallel line will have the same slope.

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 3
(3,4)...x = 3 and y = 4
now we sub and find b, the y int
4 = 3(3) + b
4 = 9 + b
4 - 9 = b
-5 = b

so ur other line, L2 is : y = 3x - 5 <==

The slope for 2 parallel lines is always the same so the slope will remain 3.(m=3)
To find the y intercept you have to replace the y and x with the 2 points given and the m with the slope and simplify.
so, y=mx+b
(4)=(3)(4)+b
4=12 +b
8=b
then plug in the intercept and the slope into the slope intercept equation and there is your answer.
y=3x+8
