The Persian Darius was a Persian King that led the invasion of Greece. The main target of Darius was Athens. With that threat, Athens and Sparta promised to ally to defend themselves from the attack. Darius sent 600 ships and 25 thousand men to attack two city-states Cyclades and Euboea. Against all odds, the Greek won the battle. This was one of the biggest threats to the Athenian democracy.

In 520 BC, the newfound Athenian democracy was threatened by Persian Darius.

A Democratic system of government was practiced by the Athenians in which citizens were allowed to participate in the decisions of the government. The last and final battle they fought was the Battle of salamis in which the Athenians compelled Persian to flee back.

The Athenians were waiting off the coast of Island of salamis to attack them.  They confronted Persian with their ships “triremes”, which were wild and portable .They knocked against the side of the Persian ships and immersed them, forcing Persian soldiers to abscond back to Persia.
