Cabeza de Vaca is one of the four survivors who reached the Gulf of Mexico. Together with the three explorers, they studied Florida peninsula. It was told by one of them that they are captives for a year before they escaped. They sailed along the Gulf of Mexico with makeshift water transport and stayed for 6 and half years with the native Eastern coastal people. They walked across from Northern to Southwestern Texas and finally met his countrymen, Spanish Galicia at the Northwestern Mexico. After their encounter, they continued their journey to the ancient city of Mexico also known as the Capital of New Spanish- Tenochtitlan.
