In the Republics, there is a model called Separation of Powers that points down each branch of government should have different responsibilities and duties. The separation of powers, aims to prevent any dictatorship, or supreme control by a single political posture and to promote democratic dialogue in a country. For example, the most common way is to separate three different powers: Legislative power, represented by the Congress. Executive power, vested in the president, and the Judicial power held by the Supreme Court.
