The ratio of men to women working for a company is 5 to 8 . if there are 104 women working for the company, what is the total number of employees?

The ration for women to men is: 

5:8 
104:x 

8x104=5x
832=5x 
832/5=x 
166.4 =x 

However, you cannot have 0.4 of a person, so the number of men is 166. 

Total number of employees are: 166+104=270
