Jefferson expressed a distrust against bankers and banks he did not trust them and felt they would not help the common man. When asked if he thought the federal government had the power to set up a federal bank he believed the bank would not focus on common poor men like farmers which would violate their rights by the 10th amendment giving them no power to set up the bank.
