One complaint people had with the Catholic Church was their practice of selling indulgences, which were promises made by the church to shorten a person’s time in purgatory after they died. This angered people because the church would accept monetary donations in return for forgiveness. And this angered a lot of people and riots and protest were done to change this new church policy.

People were strong about their religion and no where in the Bible says you have to pay your sins away. Martin Luther then wrote the 95 Thesis which is 95 reasons he was angry with the church.
