Political parties play a major role in government. They bring people together to attain control of the government, introduce policies favorable to their interests or the groups that support them, and organize and persuade voters to vote their candidates for the precidency. The basic goal of political parties is the nomination of candidates for public office and to get as many of them elected as possible.
If these candidates are elected, they will seek to accomplish the goals of their party through legislation and program initiatives.
