As in regular equations, we subtract/add the whole number on the right from both sides to get the other number with the variable by itself. -4 is negative so we add 4 to both sides in order to get -2 > n/5. Now, because this is a fraction, multiply by the reciprocal, which is 5/1 to get the variable by itself. -2 * 5/1 is -10/1 or just simply -10. n < -10. Graphed on the number line, you leave an open circle on -10, and draw it to the left.
Note: Going left means the numbers are getting smaller and graphing to the right means the numbers are getting bigger. As for the points, open circle means greater than or less than and closed circle means greater than or equal to or less than or equal to.
