The wavelength of a photon that has an energy of 5.25 × 10-19 j is 3.78 × 10-⁷m

HOW TO CALCULATE WAVELENGTH:

  • The wavelength of a photon of light can be calculated using the following formula/expression:

E = h × c/λ

Where;

  • E = energy,
  • h = Planck's constant
  • c = the speed of light
  • λ = wavelength.

  • The speed of light (c) has a value of 3 × 10⁸m/s
  • Planck's constant (h) has a value of 6.626 × 10-³⁴ Js
  • The energy of the photon is given as 5.25 × 10-19 J

The wavelength of the photon can be calculated as follows:

λ = hc/E

λ = (6.626 × 10-³⁴ × 3 × 10⁸) ÷ 5.25 × 10-¹⁹

λ = 19.878 × 10-²⁶ ÷ 5.25 × 10-¹⁹

λ = 3.78 × 10-⁷m

  • Therefore, the wavelength of a photon that has an energy of 5.25 × 10-19 j is 3.78 × 10-⁷m.
