The yellow light has a wavelength
of about 570 nm. The red light, on the other hand, has a wavelength of about 650 nm. In our
example where an artificial light
source is used, the leaves of the plant appear to be reddish yellow in color. Since
reddish yellow is associated with red and yellow colors, the wavelengths of
visible light absorbed by this pigment lies between 570 and 650 nm. Nm is a billionth of a meter, also known as nanometer.
