Bone consists of four types of cells: osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes, and osteoprogenitor
osteoblasts - a cell that secretes the matrix for bone formation.
osteoclasts -  a large multinucleate bone cell that absorbs bone tissue during growth and healing.
osteocytes - a bone cell, formed when an osteoblast becomes embedded in the matrix it has secreted.
osteoprogenitor - that are located in the inner cellular layer of the periosteum, the endosteum and lining osteonic canals.
