This may be an example of confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories.This would be a prime example as the new evidence in this case is the election of Barack Obama and the sample drastically increased by 25%, which is a huge shift in a sample.
