The civil war, a deadly conflict that left 620,000 troops dead. One of the main reasons this war was so deadly was the fact that every death was an American casualty. The number of people who died in captivity is equivalent to the number of people that died in Vietnam war. As you can guess, the war severely damaged relationships between family members.
1. Sometimes it was brother Vs. brother on the battlefield.
2. Other times it was son Vs. Father.
3 When people were killed, it could tear the family apart almost instantly.
4. Sometimes, the entire family would be killed.
Hope this Helps! :)

During the time of the American civil war, there were sides taken. People had different opinions of slavery and independence. Say for example, in a family, there were three brothers. The one was shot by a union soldier. The one brother would want revenge and join the confederacy, but the other brother would have opinions shared with the union and went with them. One thing overlooked with talking about the civil war is that they were all americans and not all Confederates fought for the name of slavery.
