this might be different from someone else's calculations if i got it wrong but using substitution i found the width to be 114 ft and length to be 134 ft. multiply those together and you get A=15276 ft.

P = 496
L = W + 20

496 = 2(W + 20 + W)
496 = 2(2W + 20)
496 = 4W + 40
496 - 40 = 4W
456 = 4W
456/4 = W
114 = W

L = W + 20
L = 114 + 20
L = 134

the area.....A = L * W
A = 134 * 114
A = 15276 square ft <== or 15276 ft^2
