Odysseus' voice nearby, he did his best
to wag his tail, nose down, with flattened ears,

Loyalty and fidelity are precious traits.

Argus is Odysseus’s dog who was left to die after him. Odysseus came to know about the dog by Eumaeus in his disguise as a beggar. He felt very sorry for the dog and at the same time was unable to show his love and care to it. The dog, on the other hand, recognized Odysseus and tried to wag his tail. During the course of time when Odysseus was at war, Argus stayed loyal to him. Though Odysseus feels sorry for it, he is unable to reveal himself.
