I'd suggest plotting out the triangle on a graph.

Use the distance formula to find the length of at least two of the sides.

d^2 = (3+2)^2 + (6+1)^2
d^2 = 25 + 49
d^2 = 74
d = 8.6

d^2 = (-2+9)^2 + (-1-4)^2
d^2 = 25 +49
d^2 = 74
d = 8.6

it's an isoceles triangle. by looking at a graph, the easiest method for calculating the area is taking the area of the rectangle (7 x 12 = 84) encompassing it and subtracting the area of the right triangle sides (5 x 7 = 35 & 6 x 2 = 12).
Area of triangle = 84 - 35 - 12 = 37
