Imperialism is the policy of extending a nation's authority by gaining territory or establishing economic, military and political dominance over other nations.
Our history is filled with nations or empires that have established their dominance over other nation by military force. One of the many examples was The French imperialism in the 16th century over much of eastern North America, on several Caribbean islands, and in parts of South America.
