Well, it depends on what type of religion you believe in, For example, Christians believe that Jesus is god and he is their savior, and their... well...and the person they depend on to answer their prayers. But muslims beleive that Allah is Their one and only god. But this is the real meaning :(in Christianity and other monotheistic religions) the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being.
