If you multiply (•) 3.5 and 3 it equals 10.5, so then you multiply it by 3 times and your answer is 31.5 mph altogether

Solution:

Let speed of each rider = x miles/hour

Total time of travel = 3.5 hours

Keep in mind the relation between , distance , speed and time.

Distance = Speed × Time

Distance traveled by first rider = 3.5 × x = 3.5 x miles

Total distance traveled by three riders when they travel alone for 3.5 hours at the speed of x miles per hour= 3.5 x + 3.5 x+3.5 x= 10.5 x miles
