"Egypt" is the North African country in which tension exist between secularism and Islamism.
Secularism in Egypt has had an imperative task to carry out in both the historical backdrop of Egypt and that of the Middle East. Egypt's first understanding of secularism began with the British Occupation (1882– 1952), the air which permitted engendering of western ideas.This debate had then turned into a consuming issue with crafted by Egyptian Shaykh Ali abd al-Raziq (1888– 1966), "The most earth shattering report in the critical scholarly and religious discussion of modern Islamic history".
