Items that are solids have tighter, more packed molecules than a liquid does. Liquids' atoms move more freely around the liquid. For example, if you had water , it moves around more than a solid would because of the way the atoms are, whereas a solid would stay as it is :)
A solid is an object. A liquid is ugually a drink. Liquids dont have any shape. If you put it in a bottle it will move around and change shape. A solid if you put it in a bottle and shake it will stay the same shape(but maybe be on a different side).
