The 1950's car culture is perhaps unparalleled by any other decade. There were many innovations in design and safety and the 50's gave birth to many highly prizedclassic cars. After World War II the American manufacturing industry changed from war-related items to consumer goods.

It saw diffusion of new music’s along with many other inventions of which one is the introduction of new automobiles. The companies switched their production to consumer-related goods rather than war-related goods. It was assessed that 1 out of 6 American was indirectly or directly employed in automobile sector. United States became the largest manufacturers of automobiles in the world.  

The era after the war begun with 25 million registered automobiles of which most were in a very poor condition but soon the companies were able to produce 8 million cars by 1958. As a result of its, US expanded it's National Highway System and interstate highway to avoid traffic jams and allow the traffic to move smoothly. Some popular cars sold at that time were Volkswagen and Chevrolet with drastic rear-end styling. Ford too came with a redesigned body  in its automobiles.
