The immediate causes of the War of 1812 were a series of economic sanctions taken by the British and French against the US as part of the Napoleonic Wars and American outrage at the British practice of impressiveness, especially after the Chesapeake incident of 1807.
Taxes, having to house troops, and unfair treatment. They were tired of being taxed by the king when he wasnt even in the new Americas. This is the reason why they thought of No Taxation Without Representation. Housing European troops was also an issue because it forces people to have to spend all this extra money and not get anything back in return. All this led to the feeling of being mistreated by the king so they declared war when they sent the king their Emancipation Proclamation. I really hope I helped! Gl <3
